Campus Crusade for Christ is a charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, which was started in 1979 as a monitoring agency to ensure that non-profit Christian agencies maintained high ethical standards of management. Comprised of over 60 ministries, Campus Crusade was named “most efficient religious ministry” by Money Magazine in 1996. The organization is lead by an executive president and vice-president, along with a board of directors headed by a board chairman, who are joined by the various ministry directors in decision-making and also rule upon internal affairs, including “conflict of interest” management regarding financial contributions. There have only been two executive presidents thus far, after founding President Bill Bright stepped down in 2000 and appointed Steve Douglass as the new president after Douglass was unanimously approved by the board of directors. All CCC staff workers must raise their own financial support for salaries and expenses through fundraising from individuals, businesses, churches and foundations - 12% of which is channeled into the ministry (5% to overhead; 5% to overseas ministries; 2% to U.S. ministries). All staff members in the ministry must have a college degree and are selected by a process that includes a written application, personal references, and interviews.
